Accreditation

The National Centre for Laboratory Research and Risk Assessment (LABRIS) is accredited by the Estonian Accreditation Centre (EAK) and complies with the requirements of the standard EVS-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 as a testing laboratory for diagnostic studies of animal diseases and microbiological and chemical analyses of food, feed, water, and alcohol. The scope of accreditation does not include sampling.

The management system is based on the requirements described in the standard EVS-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and is regulated by national and European Union legislation and official guidance documents. An effective management system ensures compliance with standard requirements, guarantees impartiality and expertise, and ensures competence in its fields of activity.

LABRIS laboratories use testing methodologies based on guidelines published by international standard organizations (ISO) or other recognized organizations (NMKL, WOAH, CLSI, OIV, IHC, etc.). As a national reference laboratory, LABRIS also utilizes official guidelines developed by the respective European Union reference laboratories (ELRL).

The reliability and accuracy of analysis results are ensured through an effective management system, internal quality control procedures, and participation in international proficiency tests.

The effectiveness of LABRIS’s management system and the competence of its laboratories are assessed through annual EAK supervision visits, evaluations by EU reference laboratories, and thematic audits by the European Commission.

LABRIS applies a flexible scope of accreditation for certain analysis methods in the instrumental analysis, chemistry, microbiology and molecular analysis department in Tartu, as well as in the chemistry laboratory in Tallinn.
