Reasons for rejecting samples

Below is a list of the reasons due to which a laboratory may refuse to accept samples.

A laboratory may reject samples and thereby also refuse to handle the samples in the following cases:

  1. the sample arrived in the laboratory so late that it cannot be analysed pursuant to the applicable requirements;

  2. the sample has been contaminated due to damaged packaging or another reason (melted, higher temperature than required);

  3. the amount of the sample is insufficient for the analysis/test ordered;

  4. the sample exhibits obvious signs of spoilage;

  5. the sample is not accompanied by a cover letter;

  6. the cover letter is filled out insufficiently (does not specify the indicators to be determined or the tests ordered) or illegibly;

  7. the previous invoice of the customer is overdue.

In the case of discovering the circumstances included in the list, the laboratory will contact the customer (by phone or in writing, if necessary) and notifies them of the shortcomings detected.
